Thank You Katey!!

Katey emailed me recently to say she makes "Fuzzy Bags," hand-crafted small bags that can be filled with any number of items for kids. Katey included marbles in the three boxes of "Fuzzies" she sent:

Thanks, Katey!! These will be headed to Afghanistan shortly!

    New Requests

Here are some of our latest requests:

    Jessica:
    Ma'am,
My name is Jessica -------- and I work for Trial Defense Services in Iraq. I have made friends with some Army physician's assistants and doctors here at Camp ---------. They rotate traveling out to U.S. clinics that service Iraqis, both adults and children. The U.S. military donates extra medical supplies and also supplies that are about to expire to the Iraqi clinics - pretty much supplies that the U.S. Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen, and Marines won't need. As you know, there aren't any U.S. children over here with their moms and dads, so there are never any children's medicines to donate to the Iraqis. As a result, the clinics are always running out of medicine for children (not children's Tylenol, though - they apparently made a very large donation). Things like cough syrup and cold medicine (Sudafed, Robitussin, Benadryl, Dimetapp, etc.)I've asked everyone who is contemplating sending me fun stuff to send over-the-counter kids' medicines instead. I go over to the clinic with everyone from my office once every month to donate what I have received and assist with the children. I'd like to thank you all for all the support Soldiers Angels has provided to my husband and I throughout this deployment, and was wondering if you all could help us in our humanitarian project as well. If you would like, I would love to send you pictures of the Iraqi kids from previous visits. If you want to send toys and clothes (or other comfort things for children), I'll deliver those as well but our main goal is medical and hygiene items. The way to win this thing is to love the next generation of Iraqis and they will love us back!!

    Jonathan:
...I am...serving in Afghanistan. I am a fairly unique situation. I have a significant amount of contact with Afghan locals and realize they they would tremendously appreciate some small things ranging from hard candy to pens to small inexpensive toys...Anything you can do to help is greatly appreciated. Thank You!

    Tim:
I am with a group of 14 other soldiers whose mission is to help train, mentor, and coach the Iraqi's...We also try and help the local populace with things like Hot Wheel Cars, Soccer Balls, Shoes, Clothes.. for the children. I think it kinda reminds us of our families back home that we left when we left as mobilized reservists. Thanks in Advance for your help

    Leah:
This hero is "breaking ground working with Afghan National Army soldiers and.... who also is going to try to develop some Girl Scout program activities with the children. Her unit is sponsoring a local orphanage and are developing a needs list for the 650 children. Kites are popular for the kids over there just as the book Kite Runner depicts. They have a once in a lifetime opportunity to assist a country in developing their security safety and their Freedom as we have enjoyed for our life."

Pens, pencils, paper, clothing, and simple toys (other than stuffed animals) are particularly in need

We are currently working with 20 Heroes, and your help is needed more than ever. Please don't hesitate to contact us if you would like to help these Heroes to help the children they work with every day.
